6 Habits to swear by
this Autumn Season

AN EASY GUIDE TO CATCH WIND

3 min read

October is famously known to be the month that brings in many changes. Everyone is bucking up for the festive delight season while saying goodbyes to summer. And for this time of the year, it can be especially consuming to stay on health track with just a typical diet and no activity.

To overcome this like it’s a piece of cake, we have made a must-do list for you, so that nothing disrupts your gala time.

1. Fix your sleep pattern

Autumn is the time our bodies start going into hibernation and it is natural to lose out on sleep. But such times can best be described like how the American writer Laura Ingalls put it. “There is good in everything if only we look for it.”

Use this as a time when you will fix your sleeping pattern before the arrival of winter, so you don’t have to deal with restless days in the longer run. Try to keep away from all screens for at least 30 minutes before you hit the bed. You will find yourself sleeping better, and feeling fresh the next day.

2. Overload on Sunshine Vitamin

Aren’t you happier in the summer sun? Well, it is not just you. The sunshine vitamin is a miracle formula to combat anxiety, stress and depression due to the production of the happy hormone serotonin in the body.

It is scientifically proven that people avoid going out in autumn which can cause the body to produce less Vitamin D perhaps making you feel undesirable mood swings, lethargy, and inactivity in the body along with several symptoms of anxiety.

To avoid the weather blues, consider going out more and let the sun take care of you. You can also consider taking Vitamin D supplementation. People with higher levels of Vitamin D are less likely to feel anxious or depressed, all year long.

3. Ditch the drink

No, we are not judging you. But it has been proven in endless scientific studies that alcohol is known to reduce Vitamin D and Omega-3 levels in your body. It also knocks down Calcium in your body making you feel down and low through the season.

You can start by reducing your alcohol intake, because it is going to take you places, quite literally (refer point 5)

4. Keep Omega-3 close

Autumn season just requires more effort to keep your heart healthy and soothe skin. Too much Omega 6 can increase your blood pressure, and may also cause inflammation. The secret to a happy heart is to maintain the balance between Omega-6 and Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids.

Why they are called ‘essential’ is because they cannot be manufactured by your body and must be taken through diet. Walnuts, kidney beans, flax seeds and soyabean oil are some of the vegetarian sources of Omega-3 acids.

5. Plan a break

The best time to plan a break can be anytime of the year when you want to have fun, but giving yourself that opportunity during autumn can give you something to look forward to.

Simply stepping out of the house to take a step back from your daily routine can really fire things up for you, of course in a good way. So go take that trip you always wanted, or meet your childhood friend. Light up a small fire, enjoy a barbecue in your balcony, and let nature do its talking.

6. Find your soul food

Tryptophan is an amino acid which constitutes proteins and also builds certain brain signalling chemicals. Having tryptophan rich foods like spinach, milk, soy products, nuts, bananas and cheese can help you step up your day, keeping the gloom away.

There is no better time to enjoy wholegrain foods, green vegetables and citrus fruits to keep your skin shining and gut healthy.
